The general idea with
Kleos is to reflect some of the things I've read on how empires emerge, the
problems
they face, whether military, economic, or logistical as they grow. Also, the
type of atrocities that can be inflicted
on the conquored people & lands as well as forms of resistance.
You can tell the earlier ones from the later, the linework's less coarse
& the colouring more subtle, that kinda reflects
my thinking at the time. Originally the idea was to tell short Norse Saga
style tales, so a 'chunkier' look seemed more
suited, but as I thought more about making the stories more involved it just
naturally started looking more considered.
The likelyhood is I'll try to do both as time goes by.

| 1. Draw up the illustration using Staedtler Pigment Liners (0.2, 0.5,0.7).
Scan it onto my PC. |
2. Using the Photoshop 'Paint' tool I drop in the main colours. |
3. Add in single darker tones as if from a top left light source. |
. Using the 'Pencil' tool' I added in the eyes, then using the Circle Marquee' tool & 'Select' - 'Inverse' tool I add a blue tint to draw attention to the face. |
